Warehousing Web Data

Abstract: Web-based applications are continuously creating fast-growing volumes of Web-related data sources. We consider such data under the form of structured documents (i.e. XML) and Semantic Web data (i.e., RDF and its associated semantic schema language, RDF-S). The scale and complexity of this data require scalable techniques for storing, indexing, distributing and querying.
The talk will present works carried in the Leo team of INRIA Saclay, France, on building efficient warehouses for Web data. The first part of the talk will address large-scale distributed publishing and sharing XML data within the ViP2P platform. ViP2P has been fully implemente and shown to scale well when deployed over hundreds of peers in a WAN.
I will then describe the RDFViewS project, aiming at speeding up RDF query processing based on materialized views which also exploit data semantics. Finally, I will conclude by briefly discussing ongoing developments related to building distributed warehouses of XML and RDF data.
